Hi. It’s me…again…

So…it’s been awhile.  J and I are generally rather busy people and, for the most part, we like it that way.  Between all of our activities (yes, I said it out loud, just like in Stepbrothers..) and working, I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately.  Here’s a bullet list detailing the goings-ons in my current day-to-day situation…

  • Masters Program – I’m taking off my “teacher hat” for the moment, and stating the obvious: I haven’t gotten much out of my Masters program.  I haven’t really learned anything exciting or super-new.  I write a lot of papers.  Seriously, A LOT.  It’s kind of my new hobby, and by “hobby” I mean something I do repeatedly that I hate.  I can’t hide my abundant joy for the coming of April 23, 2011…because that’s when I’m officially done….for now.
  • Teaching – yeah…it’s what I do and I truly love it.  My students this year are amazing and I’m generally excited to go to work.  I like bulletin boarding, creating projects/assignments that link curriculum and all things teaching.  Yeah, I am a total nerd.
  • Jason Aquila – he’s pretty much the cheese to macaroni.  I don’t want to make you vomit up your recently eaten meal, however, we’re totally in love…like an old sappy, cheeseball Hollywood movie.  Go ahead, cue the singing and dancing…and where are those silly animated birds…I need those too.
  • Tutoring – I currently tutoring a sweet girl on Mondays.  She’s terrific and I enjoy spending time with her.  Plus, my marvelous momma makes me dinner on those nights, since I tutor at her casa (Spanish for house – duh).  The after school tutoring program at school will start soonly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 5:00.  It’s a great program that facilitates to the needs of our at-risk students….and the money’s not bad either.
  • My big brother is coming home in the next few weeks for some leave time before leaving for Afghanistan in November.  It’s always great to see him, especially before he deploys.  I understand that these tours are apart of his duty as a Marine, but it sucks to have him gone.  This will be his fourth tour in four years.  Ugh.
  • ND football games – My parents have season tickets and generously gifted some tickets to J and I.  We’re huge ND fans.
  • Book Club – This is a fantastical addition to my life!  A group of amazing women get together at someone’s house (from the group – not a stranger.  That would be weird) and drink wine, eat, and talk…sometimes even about that month’s book.  I love to read in a completely geeky way.  The first book we read was The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  I loved it!  So funny at times, but then teary at others.  I highly recommend it!

Well…it was nice to catch up.  Talk to you in a month or so!

I’m sad that I just realized I have less than two weeks to read my book and it just came in the mail yesterday. Wishing I was a fasty reader like you!
